Castelnuovo Don Bosco

A town that is very rich in historical-artistic evidence. Examples, among others, are the 18th century Parish Church of San Andrea with a painting by Moncalvo, the small Romanesque church of San Eusebio, and the medieval Rivalbo Castle. In any case, many people come to Castelnuovo Don Bosco mainly to visit the large sanctuary dedicated to San Giovanni Bosco, the apostle of the young who was born and worked here. Even the house of the saint, where reminders of the Salesian presence in the world and the old-time peasant life style can be found inside, in the hamlet of Becchi, is a favorite destination of tourists and pilgrims. The house is surrounded by other religious structures, which contribute to this town being considered one of the most important places of Salesian activity in Italy and elsewhere. Besides the places linked to the life of Don Bosco, the places and houses where San Giuseppe Cafasso, the Blessed Giuseppe Allamano, San Domenico Savio, and Cardinal Giovanni Cagliero are part of an interesting religious tour on life in the 19th century.
