Armeria Reale
Armeria Reale

It is one of the largest collections of arms in the world. Established by Carlo Alberto with the collections from both the Turin and Genoa arsenals and open to the public since 1837, the Royal Armory has about 5,000 pieces of firing and non-firing weaponry, armor, and relics. Among the most significant objects, next to the Savoy armor collection, the Napoleonic relics, and the weaponry belonging to Carlo Alberto and to Vittorio Emanuele II, is the armor of Diego Felipe Guzman, Marquis of Leganes, and the medieval arms and the exquisite Milanese 16th century parade armor. The museum also houses a noteworthy collection of eastern armor in a setting of 250 flags. Even the architectural spaces are of major importance: the entrance stairs are by Benedetto Alfieri, the rotunda and the showroom for coins and medals is by Pelagio Palagi, the Beaumont Gallery, with the “queen’s “ gallery inside, is by Filippo Juvarra.
