Candelo: il Ricetto
Candelo: il Ricetto

Thanks to Ricetto (of Candelo), officially recognized as one of the one hundred most beautiful hamlets in Italy, Candelo keeps alive a special tie to the Middle Ages and its historical-artistic heritage. This fortified complex, a medieval masterpiece, the fruit of a farming community’s intelligence and fatigue in order to protect their crops and themselves, is truly loved both by its residents and the tourists who come from all over the world, as the fact that various directors have chosen it as a location proves. Today in Candelo, interesting events are held, such as the one promoted by Biella florists in the late spring which brings the ancient “rue” to life for several days by decorating the most suggestive corners of the town. The natural landscape is quite striking. The town includes a good part of Baraggia’s wild plateau, called the Baraggione, with very particular geological and botanical characteristics. The best time to visit the town is in the autumn when the colors of the Baraggia recall the straw colors of the African savannah and the images of men on horseback recall the far-away time when humans and nature lived together in complete harmony.
